Learn To Journal: Simple Contour Ink Drawing with Watercolor or Watercolor Pencils

These small fresh pieces serve as wonderful records of your travels, small meditations, or as a plan for a future larger artwork. You may bring photos you wish to work from, or we will set up a few still life options to use in the classroom. Weather permitting, we could work outside around the building. You will learn about the various options in supplies that are inexpensive, easy to carry, and fun to work with. You will then learn the techniques for doing simple contour drawing with a black ink marker and fresh quick color with simple watercolor or watercolor pencil supplies.
Intermediate Ink Painting
with Karen Walker
Come for one or more of these lintermediate level sessions. Each class will feature approximately one hour of demonstration/instruction and three hours to work on individual paintings. Each meets from 9:00-1:30, with a half-hour break.
Control: Ink Flow March 5, 9:00-1:30, $40
This session will look at how to incorporate bold, fluid ink passages into paintings. Demonstrations will include dynamic backgrounds, techniques for water, and safely adding fluid ink pasages into nearly completed paintings.
Control: Negative Painting March 12, 9:00-1:30, $40
Using alcohol to lift the ink can create beautiful and dramatic paintings. In this class, we'll look at different techniques and textures for working negatively.
Control: Masking March 19, 9:00-1:30, $40
Masking fluid is a great tool for controlling ink flow and preserving whites and much needed contrast in ink paintings. However, integrating masked areas into a finished painting can be problematic. This session will focus on a variety of masking techniques and tips.
Save This Painting March 26, 9:00-1:30, $40
Bring your less than spectacular pieces to this session where we'll work on dramatic measures to "save this painting." Demonstrations to include weaving, misting and more.
Playing with Pixels- Beginner Digital Art Class
with JJ Love
April 11; 10:00-3:00, $40
Learn the basics of Photoshop starting with opening and setting up a file in the proper format for printing, and moving on to tools, attributes, and filters. Students will walk away with a better understanding of Photoshop, digital art, and the artistic capabilities of their computers as well as a saved image for printing.
Painting with Pixels- Intermediate Digital Art Class

Advance your knowledge of Photoshop through learning masking techniques, blending and layer adjustments, brush dynamics and creation, and selection cut and paste tools, among others.
